The Flume

August 2008

Friday, 8.15.08

Okay so I'm working hard but also trying to play hard.  I work every other weekend so I try and get out and do something awesome on the weekends I have off.  I was able to hike to Massachusetts highest peak.  I also went and saw the Flume Gorge in the White Mountains, which cost $12, but it had to be the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.  Lots of pictures of all those fun events.

Last Saturday I finally go to Hike Mount Washington, the highest point in New England.  It was phenomenal!  Those pictures will be in my August update.  So patiently wait you must.

I don't think I've gone into any new details about my work.  In summary, I have totally switched careers.  I'm now working as a Mental Health Specialist in entry level position at a world class Mental Hospital here in Boston. I'm doing the job to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.  It's been great so far, I actually feel like I'm giving back to the world, imagine that.  I love the patients.  I'm trying to decide between Psychology or Nursing as a long term career goal.  Right now becoming a Psych Nurse Practitioner seems very appealing.  You can do talk therapy, prescribe medicine, less schooling, wide variety of jobs and security, and better pay.  It might be the route for me.  We'll see.  Right now just enjoying learning about the field.

And don't worry, of course I saw The X-Files 2 movie on opening night! (I think I may have been the only one who saw it).  Of course I loved it in all it's Mulder & Scully greatness.  The actual plot was rather average monster of the week TV episode, but the Mulder/Scully moments were greatness.  Haven't seen Batman yet, but that just doesn't excite me as much.  I did watch the first season of Dexter on DVD, which was awesome.  Love Michael C. Hall.
